LOTTIE IN "A MAGIC TOUCH"
"A Magic Touch" is the first film of Lottie under direction of Mr. Lee Han-Tsang since she joined the Shaw Studio. The story dwells on the life of nurses and its realistic features touches one to the heart. Picture of the four nurses from right to left are: Tso Chuan, Lottie, May-Yueh-Hua, and Kiang Foong.

二度訪問樂蒂小記
這是筆者第二次訪問樂蒂，記得第一次和她見面的時候，正值她脫離××公司轉投入邵氏旗下，在那次談話裏，她有幾句頗為精闢的話，值得在這裏複述一下，她說：「為什麼要把一個演員定型呢？一個真正優良的演員，應該什麼戲都能演，正派、反派、悲劇、喜劇，應該都去嚐試，應該都能達到高深的造詣。」跟着她非常認真的說：「因此我也希望不要以我的外型，決定我的戲路。」
這一次見面，正當名製片家米契爾·托特墜機慘死的消息傳至香港，她無限感慨的說：「像米契爾·托特這樣有氣魄的製片家，才會有真正成功的電影產生。」對於米契爾·托特夫人伊莉沙白·泰勒，她也有著最深的敬佩，她舉出泰勒主演的「魂斷巴黎」和「郎心如鐵」兩部影片，使她畢生難忘，一再強調中國女星值得向她學習！
至筆者寫此文時，樂蒂加盟邵氏後第一部新片「妙手回春」，業已接近完成階段，她在該片中飾一女護士，是一位表面矜持而實際上卻具有非常溫柔的性格的女孩子，她被一個年輕男人瘋狂地愛着，最先無動於中，終於為那個男人至情所感動，而接受了那份「愛情」。樂蒂很坦白的表示，該片中她所擔負的角色，在戲的份量上，稍為「輕」了一點，「淡」了一點。是的，一個確想在演技上下功夫的演員，常常希望多點「戲」放在身上。但「妙手回春」裏面的樂蒂，仍然是成功的，她的「輕」與「淡」的觀念，只是說明她有強烈的求進取的心願。
她最近讀過一部宗教名著，書名「訂婚以後」，她認為如果把這部名著的宗教氣氛沖淡，改編為一個純文藝的劇本，將成為一個非常完美的劇本，因為這裏面包括着崇高的、聖潔的男女的愛，誠篤、深刻的夫婦的愛，更有感人肺腑的父母子女的愛，她說：「這個社會太缺乏『愛』，太缺乏『善良』，這樣的劇本一定能有良好的影響！」
「清宮怨」話劇義演後，輿論界除對她所演珍妃的角色備加讚許外，並認為她將成為「時下最紅明星的勁敵！」樂蒂之美的確是悠悠然的，像最上品的香水，漸發而耐人尋味，不像有些庸脂俗粉，一眼看上了美麗不可方物，結果卻一無所有，關於這，大概照片會說明得比文字更具體，用作本文題目的兩句韓翎的詩：「星眸霧鬢無窮意，洛水巫雲淡淡粧」，對於樂蒂，才真是一點也不過份。

MY IMPRESSION ON MISS LOTTIE
This is the second time that the writer pays a visit to Miss Lottie. During the first visit when she had just joined the Shaw, she freely gave her views on movie work. This time we naturally talk about the current topic: Michael Todd's air crash. She sighs, "only an energetic movie industrialist like Todd could produce really successful pictures." She highly respects Elizabeth Taylor, Todd's wife, and particularly points out two of her masterpieces, "Last Time In Paris" and "A Place In The Sun" which left an indelible impression on her heart.
When this issue is out Lottie has almost finished her first film for Shaw. She plays the part of a nurse, a tender-hearted girl but with a haughty appearance. She is courted by a young man and at last falls for him.
She has recently read the book "Since Engagement" and said that it should become a perfect drama for the highest as well as purest love between lovers, the profound and wholehearted love between husband and wife, and the impressive love between parents and children. She added, "This society is wanting in 'love' and 'virtue'. A drama like this will produce a very favourable effect on public moral."
Lottie has been highly commended in the stage show, "Sorrowness of A Forbidden City" in which she played the role of Princess Precious. She is considered as the rival to the most distinguished actress of the age. Like a high-class perfume, her value gradually shows itself. The pictures on this page are self-explanatory.

女護士的職業和她們底結婚問題是否抵觸，曾經屢屢引起社會人士的注意，香港有一間著名慈善機構主辦的醫院，且因行政當局對於此一問題的處理，引起社會的批評。李翰祥導演，樂蒂加入邵氏公司主演的第一部影片，「妙手回春」是對於這問題的一個解答，但劇情故事。並不影射。
本片故事裏這醫生梁廣濟自創醫院，生平以服務社會，造福人群為己任。梁本人操守極嚴，但性情固執，堅決反對本院服務的女護士在任職期間戀愛結婚，以免影響對於病人的服務。
可是女護士的年齡，多數是在十七八、廿二三之間，也正是最容易發生戀愛的年齡，因此她們一個個墮入了情網。梁院長知道之後，當然大不謂然，勸告不足，乃以免職為儆誡，在此職業戀愛不能兩全的情形之下，女護士之一竟因此萌了短見。
妙是妙在醫院當局管得嚴，戀愛當局卻有戀愛當局的辦法。院長發現醫院裡有好幾個病人都是護士們的情人。原來他們為了戀愛關係，不惜假扮病人，移樽就教，把醫院當作了自己的家，弄得雙雙對對，春滿杏林。院長對此，大為震怒，他也想出了醫藥上的刑罰來對抗，叫那些自願為情犧牲的多情種子多吃一點苦頭。
自然無論對於醫院當局，對於護士，或者對於護士的戀愛對手，這些都不是徹底解決法，經過了許多笑話與糾紛，在護士們慷慨陳詞之後，老院長終於頷首點頭，改變政策，在皆大歡喜的空氣中，結束全劇。
這是樂蒂加入邵氏後的第一部影片，男主角金銓，其他參加演出的有梅月華、江楓、杜鵑、張翠英、楊志卿、李允中、洛奇等。李翰祥處理這部喜劇，嬉笑怒罵，兼而有之，全片演出，風趣動人。
"THE MAGIC TOUCH"

The problem about the inconsistency between a nurse's marriage and her career has quite often aroused public attention. The first production made possible by the cooperation of director Lee Han-Tsiang and actress Lottie who has newly joined Shaw Studio gives a satisfactory answer to the aforesaid problem.
The story is about an old doctor who has founded a hospital with an aim of promoting public welfare. Being strict in discipline and obstinate in disposition, he strongly objects to his nurses' talking about love or matrimony, which he considers, are detrimental to their work.
However, the young nurses fall in love one by one and the doctor, concurrently the supervisor of the hospital, seriously admonishes them of the possibility of being fired if they keep on leading a romantic life. Under such pressure one of the nurses attempts to commit suicide.
In spite of the severity exercised by the management of the hospital in view of prohibiting the nurses' activities, things turn out just the opposite. Their "heroes" pretend to be patients who are finally found out by the management. A series of jokes having broken out, the nurses make a forceful appeal for alteration of the traditional policy and succeed in their claim. The film is ended in a very delightful air.
Lee Han-Tsiang handles this picture in high spirits especially in the sarcastic side.
