Chu Mu gets the invitation instead of the scholar. Without any qualms he bows to the squire calling the latter father-in-law.
Shaw Studio has gone into the production of Eastmancolor & Shawscope productions in a big way. Since last year, Shaw Studio has five colossal Eastmancolor films on the production line. These are "Bride-napping", "Les Belles", "Wang Chao Chun", "Yang Kwei Fei" and "Empress Wu Tse-tien".
"Bride-napping" is a costume production with a comedy plot revolving around a series of mistaken identity. Based on an episode of the well-known Chinese literary classic "All Men Are Brothers" which was translated into English by Pearl Buck, the film features a group of Shaw's young and fast-rising stars, among whom are Betty Loh Tih, Grace Ting Ning, and Chiao Chuang, with Diana Chang Chung-wen making a guest appearance as a fighting Amazon.
The film is directed by Yen Chuan, while the screen-play is written by King Chuan.

香港電影的製作技術，近年來有着很大的改進，這由於邵氏製片機構確能貫澈發揚電影藝術的使命，不斷努力研究，不惜投下鉅資推動所獲致的成果，而自設備齊全，規模宏偉，雄視遠東的邵氏製片廠於去年度在香港清水灣畔建成啓用後，有關電影製作技術的改進，更爲快速與顯著。
單就攝製技術方面來說，從去年年度開始，邵氏製片廠已進行大量攝製絢麗七彩影片，計有：「花田錯」、「千嬌百媚」、「楊貴妃」、「王昭君」、「武則天」等五部。一馬當先，將香港電影製作技術，正式領進多采多姿的彩色世紀。
與此同時，邵氏製片廠對國片觀衆更提供了配合時代的新貢獻，率先使用「邵氏綜藝體」弧形大銀幕的攝製技術，擴濶了畫面，擴展了觀衆的視野，領導着香港影壇向前邁進了一大步。
使用「邵氏綜藝體」同時用絢麗七彩製作的邵氏鉅片「花田錯」是一部豪華古裝大喜劇，於去年第四季即開始拍攝，由於場面壯大，佈景宏偉，演員衆多，服裝豪華，製作嚴謹，故歷時七個月，付出大量人力物力財力，現在才大功將成。
「花田錯」是根據中國著名章回小說「水滸傳」裡第五回花田八錯的故事改編的。這部暢銷達數百年的小說，是元末明初時文人施耐庵「一說羅貫中」所撰，寫北宋末年一百零八名綠林好漢的事跡，描寫人物，刻劃盡致，是一部極有價值的文學作品。本片的編劇者是邵氏千面小生金銓，他取材於這部通俗小說是聰明的，而對人物和情節作了更完善的安排，使全劇更緊密地在一「錯」字發展，錯中有錯，將錯就錯，一氣呵成。
劇情從俏丫鬟樂蒂伴着員外小姐丁寧看花田姻緣，邂逅舉人喬莊一見鍾情開始，樂蒂爲了撮合姻緣，稟准員外請喬莊到府，不料家人糊塗，請了小霸王朱牧，一錯；後由喬莊改扮女裝，讓朱牧錯搶回去，二錯；朱牧妹妹張仲文以爲喬莊是小姐，和他共枕，三錯；官差錯把張仲文當丁寧，送她回府交差，四錯；老家人以爲喬莊回來，把男裝擲進轎裡叫改裝，五錯；員外以爲張仲文就是喬莊，叫她和女兒即日成親，六錯；寨主田豐錯認員外搶了他的未婚妻張仲文，興師問罪，七錯；朱牧二次搶親，摸錯花和尚給打得頭腫臉青，八錯。劇情發展，還迭起高潮，的是匠心獨運之作。
「花田錯」的導演重任，由嚴俊肩起。嚴俊早年曾演過「楊貴妃」、「武則天」兩片，亦參加演出，最近在「花田錯」的男女主角，除由樂蒂、丁寧、喬莊擔任外，並由張仲文客串。
